Which Master Will You Serve?

“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.
Matthew 6:24 NLT

Are you being pulled in two directions? You know you want to be in one place more than the other, but worry and uncertainty have you burning the candle at both ends. You know in your heart what you must do. God has already given us the answer to mental rest. He assures us not to worry for his yoke is easy and his burdens are light.

Our minds or habits should not be enslaved to anything or anyone. We serve God, because we belong to him. He is the only choice. You have to make the decision to chose him which is life or chose the world which leads to eternal death.

I understand earning a living is a must. Working full time while chasing your dreams at the same time. Daily you grow tired, upset, or even depressed, because your desires do not appear to be obtainable due to worldly obligations. There is a reason God commanded we not serve two masters. He knew the mental and physical torture would be to great of a cost. This cost we are unable to pay. He gave us this warning of self destruction, and a plan on how to prevent eternal damnation.

We have to stop chasing the world, because there is nothing good in it without God being at the center of it all. Your boss nor the world can give you salvation or eternal life. Therefore, they cannot take anything from you in which God doesn’t allow. If God does allow them to take it, it is only because that season has ended. He never closes doors without having additional doors open for you. I’m not saying make rash, fleshly, emotional, decisions, and quit your job. Be thankful for your job or current status. Be patient, and wise in your planning, allowing God to order your steps. Know that money is not the only evil of master we sometimes choose to serve. When have to make the decision to serve God with our minds and body. That which hold the attention of our minds and body hold us mentally and physically in bondage as well. Be careful not to make people your God.

Your dreams and desires are obtainable in Christ. You must believe that God wants to bless you. You have to first surrender to God’s will and desire to fulfill his purpose with unselfish motives. Seeking daily to please him, not thinking of yourself. Once God sees his will becomes your will, he will began to unlock favor assisting you in birthing your desires. It may appear the enemy has the upper hand, but believe me God hold all power.
  • Mark 11:24 says if you ask God for what you want and believe you have it, it is yours.
Below Matthew 24-34 details Jesus telling us not to worry about food or material things, for he will provide all our needs. All we have to do is trust him and continue to keep our faith in him.
“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Matthew‬ ‭6:25-34‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Knowing that God is here for us, should ease your frustrations and terminate your worry. I encourage you to increase in prayer and tell God what you want. Get quiet before the Lord and write out your goals. Make plans to execute your goals according to the will of God. Have no doubt in his ability or authority over you.
  • Psalms‬ ‭84:11-12‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right. O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, what joy for those who trust in you.
I encourage you not to become your own enemy by allowing fear to dictate your life. We tell ourselves if we do not submit to some worldly things, our homes and families will be without. Quite the contrary! When we serve our Heavenly Father, nothing lacks through or in him. No matter your situation place God first. He wants to be the one to ordain you, place you, protect you, and manifest your desires. Peace of mind is the only way.
  • Psalms‬ ‭56:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?”
Thank you God for being Jehovah El-Elyon.
