“Work Related Stress”

Hello Everyone,

Too often we experience work related stress that prevails into our personal lives. Stress of any kind is definitely a death trap. Why? Stress breaks down the body & mind. Over time stress will begin to cause different non-productive reactions to life emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. Thus, finding ourselves at doctor's office time after time.

Stress is no way to live a healthy life. We must create balance! We can start by not complaining or succumbing to office drama.

We must focus and remember that work is an exchange of service. We issue professional customer service in exchange for a salary. All work related problems will not be resolved in one day. After all, God did not create the earth in one day.

Perhaps, we should redirect our energy to positive outcomes at work. Positive energy begins with one’s self assessments of life objectives. Therefore, asking how to be an asset instead of an insult.

When we speak negative words or think negatively, we are actually creating a negative outcome. What are you saying Marti? I am simply stating you and I only have control of ourselves. We do not have to allow a negative environment to make us toxic to the point we feel hopelessness and surrender.

Daily I see depression followed by the commentary of “this is just a job” and “I don’t care”. Well! As long as we think our blessing is just a job, defeat is exactly what we will endure. Change that outlook! Instead, state this is a stepping stone to progress to my future desired occupation or entrepreneurship. Your life journey is the direction of your choice.

Self-help tips I practice daily

1. Know and understand your trigger points – what makes you angry or uncomfortable.

2. Do not react to anything until you are in a calm state of mind.

3. Stop your panic points by drinking hot tea or a soothing beverage.

4.  Do not become defensive or take anything personal.

5. Use a calm, steady, even voice tone when speaking at all times.

6. Clarify your thoughts in your mind before expressing them verbally.

7. Pray for spiritual guidance & wisdom to make the right decisions.

8. Stay focus on your current & future goals.

9. Do not internalize negative thoughts or negative people.

10. Remain professional.

  1. Unfortunately, many at work causing stress and turmoil have some issues they are dealing with and bring it to work. Focus on staying true to yourself and who you are and to God. Pray for them and just work on these things daily.

  2. Thank you Bridget for your comment. You are correct in your statement. Unfortunately, we all carry some form of drama. It's all about balance and allowing God to direct our paths to a positive status.

  3. I found this blog awesome I also believe that we have to understand and keep in mind that our personal life should never cross paths with our work life. A lot of times you will find a situation were employees bring the troubles of their personal life to work with them that then in turn create a very uncomfortable work environment. I believe that if we handle the issues that we have at home first by finding peace with those situation by giving them to God. The 2 worlds will not cross, and thereI for It will indeed cut down on the drama at our place of employment.
